My view of a pastor
EPHESIANS 4:1-16
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Pastor is only one of the five-fold ministries God
gave to edify the Church. In no way is it meant to have power
and control over people, but to help them in their relationship
with Jesus Christ.
There are pastors and Church situations with
little difference to a newly wed couple living at their mother
in-laws place. As it can happen in the natural, so can it in the
spiritual.
A true pastor encourages an independent love
relationship between the believer and Jesus Christ and he
rejoices in the fact, that he is not needed.
A pastor is as a shepherd, watching over
the sheep. There are many religious spirits in this world, who
rather see a person lost than moving on from their Church to another place. This happened during the dark
ages, when true believers found salvation outside the catholic
church, and consequently were put to death. A true pastor always
points the believers to the Great Shepherd, the Lord Jesus
Christ and wishes them God's blessings, should they be led to go
elsewhere. After all, we ought to be serving the same God and
the Lord Jesus Christ is to be glorified.
A pastor must establish a proper Church
order. Where there is order - God can bless. The
order must be in accordance of the Scripture with godly fear and
respect.
